The Awards Gala is to be happening on Sunday 30th October 2016 at National Theatre from 6:00 PM, Nominees are to receive FREE INVITE Tickets but the rest are meant to buy the ENTRY TICKETS, each going for 10,000/= UGX, Share with others, its the 6th Edition of The Pearl International Film Festival.

Pearl International Film Festival (PIFF) 2016 Updates Communication.

The 6th Edition of P.I.F.F is here, following the program as portrayed at the (Its official Website), this month October is the Festival Month and its being unveiled beginning with Film related workshops;

With support from some of the sponsors, the workshops are slated to run from Monday 17th October to Saturday 22nd of October 2016 at Media Vision Academy every day from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and at the National Theatre through the acting workshops being facilitated by one of our partners; Train Up The World International (TUTWI), each workshop is slated to have not more than ten (10) participants and The workshops to be facilitated are;

Acting (By Train Up The World International)

This is to be followed by the Opening Night and the Nomination Night combined to happen on Saturday 22nd October 2016 at Jeliza Hotel, Bombo Road which is meant to be an open and free attendance event including those that submitted their films to this year’s Festival both for competition and out of competition.

At the Nomination Night, the Nominations List is to be issued out from the jury following the Film Screenings schedules showing various films to be screened at National Theatre and the Partnering Video Halls around the country slated to run from Monday 24th to Friday 28th October 2016.

On Saturday 29th October 2016 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, there will be a Q & A session (workshop) where the judges will be interacting with the various filmmakers who submitted their films to this year’s edition.


Sunday 30th October 2016 is scheduled to be the Awards Gala of the P.I.F.F 2016 where various competing films and personnel will be awarded from all categories. The PIFF 2016 Competition Categories include: Best Director,  Best Male Actor,  Best Female Actor,  Best Young Male Actor, Best Young Female Actor,  Best Feature Film,  Best Short Film,  Best Documentary Film, Best Animation Film, Best Supporting Male Actor,  Best Supporting Female Actor,  Best Screenplay,  Best Cinematography, Best Sound Design,  Best Editing / Post Production, Best Original Sound Score,  Best Make up,  Best Costuming,  Life Time Achievement Award,  Special award,  Best Media Personality,  Media House,  Best Production Design,  Best Lighting,  Best Regional Feature Film,  Viewers’ Choice (Film).


P.I.F.F Program 2016


The PIFF nomination night is to be an invites only event at the selected and communicated venue, each submitted/nominated film is to receive 10 invites given to the director/producer of the movie to invite 10 of his cast and crew people.

A simple documentary video/memory lane about the previous editions of PIFF from 2011 to 2015 will be screened to the audience and a Catalogue of the festival and the program is to be issued out to everyone at the venue. Nomination Certificates are to be issued out to applicable personnel and productions as arranged by the event organizers.

After the nomination night, over the weekend all the Nomination and Festival Program details and updates will be uploaded to the PIFF Website as well as Updating on the PIFF Facebook page and release in the newspapers including other various entertainment blogs.

A weekend after the Nomination Night, the PIFF Filmmaking workshops will commence for seven days from Monday 17th to Saturday 22nd October 2016, the workshops are to accommodate a maximum number of 20 participants and these must apply and register earlier for proper programming and organization, venues of these workshops are to be communicated at the Nomination Night through the Festival catalogue. The workshops are to be facilitated by Ugandan Filmmaking professionals in various roles and departments of Film Production running from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM and they are to consist of:

Costuming and Make Up


Editing and Coloring 

Marketing (Forum) 


The workshops are meant to better the knowledge of more Ugandan Filmmakers about the filmmaking craft hence developing the Uganda Film Industry and stakeholders way of operation on various productions.



After the workshops, the PIFF 2016 will have an Opening night on Monday 24th October 2016 at the National Theatre, an event that will run from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, where one movie will be screened amongst other entertainment and speeches from various film personnel and guests of honor.


The PIFF Screenings are to run after the Opening night, starting from Tuesday 25th to Friday 28th October 2016, these screenings are to happen in all regions of Uganda with National Theatre being the main location for major screenings. There will be screening of Short Films, Feature Films, Documentary Films and Animation Films.

There will be an organized Ugandan Movies Exhibition at the National Theatre where hundreds of movies released on DVDs by various production houses will be put on stalls and screens for display as sales are being made to the audiences attended the festival.

Awards Gala

At the closing night of PIFF 2016 Dubbed “Awards  Gala”, the winning films in competition will be awarded with awards as decided by the Jury in all nominated categories, winners will scoop newly made PIFF Awards Accolades and Prizes basing on the Festival Sponsors input.


This will run from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM.


Having various Television Broadcast Channels on board, we will be sharing some promo advertisement about the festival to the public, the viewers of the applicable partnering channels to keep them acquainted and interested in the Festival Events.
